MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday criticised the Tamil Nadu Governor’s decision not to invite TVK chief Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay to form the government, calling the move “extremely unconstitutional”.
Speaking to reporters in Nashik, Raut said the political situation in Tamil Nadu has become unusual after a fractured mandate, with no party crossing the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly.
According to him, TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats, while the majority mark stands at 118 seats.
Raut argued that if supporting parties extend backing to TVK, the party could still form the government, and therefore the Governor should not block the process.
