Jaishankar, Iranian FM Araghchi discuss West Asia situation, agree to stay in touch

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Wednesday held a detailed phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi, discussing the evolving situation in West Asia, according to official statements from both sides.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said he had received a call from Araghchi and that the two leaders reviewed various aspects of the current regional developments. He added that both sides agreed to remain in close contact amid the ongoing tensions. “Received a phone call from Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi of Iran this evening.

Had a detailed conversation about various aspects of the current situation. We agreed to remain in close touch,” Jaishankar wrote. The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi also confirmed the exchange, stating that the two ministers discussed recent developments related to the ceasefire, bilateral relations, as well as broader regional and international issues.
