The police stopped the officials of All India Sikh Conference, who were going to Haridwar on Thursday demanding the construction of Gurudwara Gyan Godri at Har Ki Pauri, at Narsan border. In protest, they tried to block the highway. The administration pacified them and sent them back.
Conference President Gurcharan Singh Babbar was entering Uttarakhand from Narsan border via UP with his companions. The police-administration was alert on the information of the arrival of the conference officials. At around 10:30 in the morning, the police stopped them at the border citing law and order. Angered by this, the officials tried to block the highway. The administration made them sit at one place and talked to them. Conference President Gurcharan Singh Babbar said that the people of the Sikh community have been struggling for the last 18 years demanding a place for Gurudwara Gyan Godri at Har Ki Pauri. Assurance was received from the government,
but there was no solution. Joint Magistrate Ashish Mishra, CO Mangalore Vivek Kumar assured to take their issue to the higher level, after which the officials returned to Delhi. It is worth mentioning that even before this, the Sikh Conference has announced to march to Haridwar many times. They are stopped by the police and administration before the march to Har Ki Pauri. During this, Tejinder Kaur Babbar, Avtar Singh, Rajendra Singh, Kukku Singh, Saurabh Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Satwinder Singh etc. were present.
