The Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified its vigil along the International Border with Pakistan in the Jammu sector, where devastating flash floods have submerged vast stretches of the frontier under three to four feet of water, damaging border infrastructure and complicating security operations.
Braving all odds, BSF jawans, equipped with modern patrol boats, drones, and advanced surveillance tools, have ramped up both boat and foot patrols to secure the riverine belts and maintain a 24×7 guard.
The flooding has forced the BSF to adapt its operational tactics as well.
Jawans can now be seen wading through floodwaters, slush, and muck, meticulously checking border fences and pillars for signs of damage or infiltration attempts.
“We are ready 24×7 to patrol this border area along the Chenab River and keep a close watch on every movement,” a senior BSF officer stated, emphasizing the force’s readiness to counter threats, including potential terrorist infiltration or drone-based weapon drops.
Amid these challenges, the BSF mourns the loss of Constable Rajib Nunia, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on Wednesday, during an operational deployment in the Akhnoor area, exemplifying the force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation.
