Sounding the poll bugle in southern States of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday alleged that the State and the Union Territory (UT) were marked by political instability and corruption of the Congress and the DMK. Assembly elections are due in a month in this Puducherry while Assembly elections are expected to be held in Tamil Nadu before 10 May.
The PM credited the NDA Government in Puducherry for bringing back the UT back on track on development and said that he hoped to see a NDA Government in Tamil Nadu. “Congress had made Puducherry an ATM for one family that sits in Delhi,” he said at an event in Puducherry to mark the launch of new projects and foundation stone laying for new initiatives.
“Now the same forces are hungry for power again”, he said in his address after unveiling projects worth over `2,700 crore.
In his second rally during the day, the PM slammed the ruling DMK dispensation in Tamil Nadu allegedly for “stealing” from the poor, youth, farmers and said such a Government had no moral right to continue.
Addressing the rally, the PM said the people have decided to bring the NDA to power in Tamil Nadu and he assured clean, efficient governance.
Modi also visited the Arulmigu Subrahmanya Swamy temple at Tirupparankundram amidst tight security arrangements. The PM who arrived at around 4.15 pm was accorded purna-kumbha honours by the temple administration. Clad in dhoti, kurta and adorned with a shawl, the Prime Minister went around the temple and later offered his worship.
