Earlier this month, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, reacting to Rajnath Singh’s vow to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok), said the neighbouring country was not wearing bangles and it possessed atomic bombs which could harm India.
PM Modi highlighted the economic problems faced by Pakistan.
“Pakistan ne choodiyan nahi pehni hain, are bhai pehna denge. Ab unko aata bhi chahiye, unke pass bijli bhi nahi hai, ab humein maloom nahi ki unke pass choodiyan bhi nahi hai (If Pakistan is not wearing bangles, we will make them wear bangles. They don’t have flour, they don’t have electricity, now I have come to know that they even have a scarcity of bangles),” PM Modi said in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, without naming Abdullah or Aiyar.
Reacting to his remarks, PM Modi said last week that the Congress had been trying to spook the people of the country. He said such a weak attitude encouraged cross-border terrorism in the past. He also took a swipe at Pakistan, saying India’s estranged neighbour had been trying to sells its bombs but no one was interested because of their poor quality.
PM Modi today claimed his government had seized illegal money to the tune of ₹2200 crore over the past 10 years. In Hajipur, PM Modi claimed that the RJD and Congress priorities their vote bank over the welfare of the people of Bihar. He accused the RJD of bringing “Jungle Raj” to the state.
