India tells citizens to exit Iran as turmoil deepens

The Indian government has urged its citizens currently living in Iran to leave the country at the earliest as the security situation continues to worsen following widespread anti-government protests and a forceful crackdown by authorities.

In a fresh advisory, the Indian Embassy in Tehran asked all Indian nationals — including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists — to depart using any available mode of transport, including commercial flights. The embassy also cautioned those remaining in the country to stay vigilant and steer clear of protest sites.
