Atal Canteen’ Inaugurated in Lal Bagh, Model Town; Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa Shares a Meal with Local Residents*

New Delhi, February 19, 2026:* Advancing its commitment to public welfare under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government today inaugurated an ‘Atal Canteen’ in the Lal Bagh area of Model Town. The canteen was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who also shared meal with local residents on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sirsa expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi and stated, “Delhi is the capital of the nation. Through their vote, the people have elected a government that is committed to the development of Delhi and to serving those in need.”

He said that the ‘Atal Canteen’ initiative reflects a commitment to upholding the dignity of the poor and the working class. “We had promised during the elections that we would provide a wholesome meal for five rupees. Today, that promise has been fulfilled in Lal Bagh as well. Such tasty, hygienic food and well-managed arrangements at just five rupees is, in itself, an example for the entire country,” he added.

During the programme, Shri Sirsa also referred to governance in previous years, stating, “Over the past eleven to twelve years, corruption and irregularities have adversely affected Delhi. The people have replaced such governance with a government focused on development.”

Praising the leadership of the Chief Minister, Shri Sirsa said, “Smt. Rekha Gupta serves as a daughter and sister to the people of Delhi and is deeply concerned about the welfare of the needy, as well as employment opportunities for them. The government is continuously working to ensure food for the needy, free healthcare, and better schools for children.”

On the issue of ration cards, Shri Sirsa provided an assurance, stating, “I assure you that through the local MLA, details of all genuine beneficiaries will be collected, and ration will be provided to them in every case. If required, new ration cards will also be issued.”

Concluding the programme, Shri Sirsa thanked the mothers, sisters, and local residents present and stated, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, the government stands not only for Delhi’s development but also for those living in settlements and for families that require government support the most. We will continue to serve you with dedication.”

The event was attended by Shri Ashok Goyal, MLA from Model Town, local councillor from Sangam Vihar, Shri Jonty, and other public representatives, and a large number of local residents.
