Fans and admirers of singer Zubeen Garg thronged his memorial at Kamarkuchi on the outskirts of Guwahati on Friday on the eve of his first death anniversary, a year after his sudden demise witnessed a mass outpouring of grief and brought entire Assam together in mourning.
Tributes flowed in different forms for Garg as visitors sang his numbers, painters drew his portraits and made different offerings at the venue.
The singer-composer’s first death anniversary is being marked by a three-day programme, called ‘Zubeen Divas’, from Thursday at his funeral site. The event is being jointly organised by the state Cultural Department, Kalaguru Artist Foundation, Zubeen Garg Fan Club and other organisations.
