PM Modi personally monitoring NEET Paper leak probe, government tells SC

The Centre on Friday informed the Supreme Court that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally supervising the government’s response to the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and the subsequent cancellation of the examination.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made the submission before the apex court while responding to questions regarding the probe into the alleged paper leak and measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in future examinations.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court sought a detailed affidavit from the Centre explaining how the investigation into the leak is being conducted and the mechanisms being put in place to ensure transparency and accountability in the examination process.

Justice Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha observed that incidents like paper leaks are “very traumatic” for students and questioned whether there were flaws either in the recommendations of the high-powered committee or in their implementation. The court also cited the UPSC examination system while stressing the need for credibility and strict monitoring.
