US Secretary of State Marco Rubio concluded his visit to Kolkata on Friday and departed for Delhi as part of his four-day official trip to India, marking his first visit to the country since taking office.
During his Kolkata stop, Rubio visited the Missionaries of Charity, including Mother Teresa’s Mother House and Nirmala Shishu Bhavan, where he highlighted themes of compassion and shared humanitarian values between India and the United States.
Rubio is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi later on Friday, according to US Ambassador Sergio Gor. He will also hold formal talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday.
The US diplomat is expected to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, where discussions will focus on regional security, Indo-Pacific cooperation, energy trade, and strategic alignment between the partner nations.
