PM Modi launches Delhi-Dehradun corridor

Expressways, road, rail and air networks decide the future of a nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after inaugurating the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun on Tuesday. The 213-kilometre economic corridor built at a cost of about INR 12,000 crore will cut the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to about 2.5 hours.

This economic corridor which also includes Asia’s longest 12-kilometre elevated wildlife corridor, will benefit Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand with enhanced connectivity. Addressing the gathering at the Jaswant Ground in Garhi Cantt, the PM said that like the bhagya rekha is known to foretell the fate of a person in palmistry, expressways, roads, rail, airway and waterways write the destiny of a nation. Stressing on the importance of infrastructure, he said.

“While spending on infrastructure stood at less than INR 2 lakh crore per year before 2014, it has now increased to over INR 12 lakh crore annually. Infrastructure projects worth more than INR 2.25 lakh crore are currently underway in Uttarakhand alone,” he said.
