Simmi Kaur Babbar ! New Delhi 13 March.  Punjab is witnessing a major transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, as the state government continues to launch ambitious policies and welfare programmes aimed at strengthening the economy, empowering citizens and creating new opportunities for the youth.

In a significant step toward economic growth, the Punjab Government recently unveiled the Industrial and Business Development Policy-2026, which aims to attract nearly ₹75,000 crore of investment into the state. The policy is designed to accelerate industrial expansion, generate employment and position Punjab as one of India’s most attractive investment destinations.

Speaking during the launch of the policy in Ludhiana, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab is open for business and committed to providing a flexible and investor-friendly environment. The policy introduces innovative incentives, capital subsidies and customized incentive packages that allow investors to choose from a wide range of benefits suited to their business

According to the state government, incentives under the new policy may reach up to 100 percent of fixed capital investment, a move expected to attract large industries, manufacturing units and emerging technology sectors to Punjab. The policy also lowers employment generation thresholds, encouraging even medium-scale industries to invest and create jobs across the state.

The Mann-led government has also emphasized job creation as one of its primary priorities. Officials say that the government has already provided tens of thousands of government jobs and continues to focus on employment opportunities for educated youth in various departments and sectors.

In another important decision, the Punjab Cabinet has approved the recruitment of over 1,100 assistant professors in government colleges to strengthen higher education and improve academic infrastructure across the state.

These measures are expected to enhance the quality of education and open new career opportunities for young professionals in Punjab.

Chief Minister Mann has repeatedly emphasized that education is the foundation of Punjab’s future. The state government has launched initiatives to modernize government schools, upgrade educational facilities and provide international exposure to teachers.

Under a new programme, government school teachers are being sent abroad for training so that students in Punjab receive global-standard education without having to leave the country.

The Punjab Cabinet has also approved the establishment of a world-class Sri Guru Teg Bahadur University at Anandpur Sahib, which will strengthen higher education and research facilities in the state.

Education experts believe that such initiatives will help Punjab emerge as a hub of learning and innovation.

The Punjab Government has also taken significant steps toward social welfare and women’s empowerment. In the recently announced state budget, the government introduced a scheme providing monthly financial assistance to women, with special support for economically weaker sections.

Officials say that these initiatives are aimed at improving the economic independence of women and strengthening family welfare across rural and urban areas of Punjab.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has repeatedly stated that the primary goal of his government is to ensure transparent governance, eliminate corruption and improve public services. The government has taken steps to improve financial management, strengthen power supply and enhance irrigation systems for farmers.

Addressing public gatherings in recent days, the Chief Minister said that Punjab is moving forward with a clear vision of development and progress in sectors such as education, healthcare, industry and agriculture.

Political observers believe that the Mann government’s industrial reforms, welfare initiatives and education policies are laying the foundation for a new phase of economic growth in Punjab.

With large investments expected under the Industrial Policy-2026, increased employment opportunities and expanded welfare schemes, the state government is projecting Punjab as a progressive and dynamic state ready to compete with the leading economies of India.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has expressed confidence that with the cooperation of the people, Punjab will soon emerge as one of the most prosperous and progressive states in the country
